Skydiver left dangling after crashing into scoreboard at Virginia Tech spring game

A planned aerial stunt at Virginia Tech's spring football game turned into an unexpected rescue operation Saturday when a skydiver crashed into the stadium's scoreboard and became entangled in his parachute. The incident occurred just before kickoff at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, where hundreds of fans had gathered for the annual Hokies scrimmage.

Video from the scene shows the parachutist descending toward the field, trailing a large American flag, before veering sharply and slamming into the side of the scoreboard. His chute snagged on the structure, leaving him suspended about 60 feet in the air, legs dangling above the field. For several minutes, he remained motionless as stadium staff and emergency responders assessed how to reach him safely.

Within half an hour, a bucket lift was brought onto the field, and rescue personnel carefully freed the man from the tangled fabric.
